The Handburger, 313 Somerest

December 9, 2009

We hit the malls last friday and we were amazed by the huge changes at Somerest. We were intending of going for the soft launch at Ippudo but at 3pm, the ramen were sold out. We wanted to have Ken noodles but it’s not open for business yet. We walked past The Handburger, their unique huge fonts caught our attention. My first meal at 313 Somerest.

Just like what their name suggests, the place sells all sorts of burgers.

The Chicken Caesar Burger

For every burger that you ordered, you get to choose between the fries and stuffed tomato. We decided to have a mix of both but to our dismay, the staff told us their stuffed tomato ran out only after our burgers were served and they replaced that with fries. Well, our burgers had their tomatoes in it. Hmm. Did they really run out of stuffed tomatoes?

Halfway through our dinner, their food inventories came and were placed  just right beside our table. Yes. I can see that the place is pretty small but it’s definitely not a pleasant dining experience when the food inventories were placed just right beside us. Enough said.

The Food inventories, just beside us.

The only plus point that I could point out was that the restaurant serves free ice water but we had to ask for it twice before being served. And surely, it doesn’t look good for the staffs when there were only 4 patrons in the restaurant at that point of time. Oh well, the staff did make an effort but giving us a complimentary plate of waffle fries.

Service aside, I did not really enjoy the burgers as well. The chicken breast meat in my chicken Caesar burger was too tough and dry for my liking. The Cheese wasn’t melted properly and the mushrooms were pretty bland for my taste buds. Chicken Caesar Burger? I’m not sure about it. The boy commented the Tandoor burger was just alright and nothing fanciful for us as well. The Fries that came was lukewarm as well.

The burger doesn’t come cheap as well. The bill came up to about $30 bucks for 2 burgers. In my opinion, I feel that there’s much more they can do to improve the dining experience.  I hope if I ever decide to head there again, it will be a better dining experience.

seems handburger hasn’t been getting the best of reviews from everyone – i suppose the high prices bring along with it high expectations too.

    see you saturday! 🙂
